So as it turns out teachertube was not down it was our internet at school and when I got home my video had been uploaded six times! Oops! Here is the official link to the site.
Awesome as usual! I can sense your dedication to the topic of cell phones, especially because of your location and the Columbine incident. I thought about it when I read the school district handbook this year and there were no electronic devices allowed for the students. It hurt my heart because we have such a long way to go. However, you have made a great start! Keep it up! I expect great things from you!
Cynthia
Kassidy,
I should have followed your lead. This was an excellent presentation. I think some real educational orgnizations should be shown this presentation. it was very informative and excellently presented. I like how you did exactly what I was told I should have done. Bravo! Good luck in your future course!
Jolandra
Kassidy,
Excellent job! You took a very debatable topic and made an extremely convincing argument that has the potential to change many minds! I liked the graphics and music, as well as the way you presented the information. Great!
Erin
Hey All- Teachertube is currently down, so I will keep trying, but here is the script for the presentation.
Final Project!
Hello all! Happy final project! I am trying to figure my way around teachertube.com right now because my file is way over the 20MB limit and too long to be allowed on youtube. But, for now here are my outline and references for the project. My transcript and video will be up shortly! Hope you all enjoy!
Week 9 Storyboard:
Hey all here are the answers to the champion questions for this week. I am trying to find a way to combine all the small portions to make it smaller. Right now there is no way that my final project will fit on here, but I will keep trying. But for now here is this weeks section. Hope all is going great with all of you!
Excellent job Kassidy! After reviewing all of your project along the way, I would definitely try to integrate this innovation in to my teaching practice. You make strong arguements that really show the potential cell phones can have!
Erin
You go, Kassidy! I am very excited and I look forward to seeing your completed project!
Cynthia
Kassidy,
Excellent conclusion! It is very convincing and makes a since. This is a no brainer to me and I hope it becomes evident in educational organizations soon. I am excited to see your final presentation.
-Jolandra
Hey all- Here are my storyboard questions for this week.
Kassidy,
Nice job on the questions! I agree with the decentralization approach. Also, I agree that the cell has not reached critical mass for educational use. The use of all four strategies will be necessary.
Erin
Hey Girl! I see you are having my kind of week! Good work as always. Hang in there!
Cynthia
Kassidy,
I definitely agree with you that cell phones as a communication has reach its critical mass but not as educational devices. I like how you distinguished these two uses.
Angela
Kassidy,
I believe once you get this is the format like the others, your responses will add to the flow of your project. It amazes me as far as cell phones have come, there is still so much convincing that needs to take place.
-Jolandra
Happy new week everyone! Here is the attribute section for this week. I have just added some random music for you to listen to as you read. Seeing that I still have a lot of revision and time to spend on this project I don't want to put music in that I know I will take out later.
Kassidy
Hi Kassidy!
Wonderful as usual! I enjoyed watching the video and it looks like you have found the traits that best gives the analysis of cell phone uses in education. I really am interested in this project because my district is one of those who are so strict about cell phone usage. I wish they would embrace the learning tools that are available for cell phones instead of spending so much time confiscating and punishing students for having them.
Keep up the good work!
Cynthia
Kassidy,
Nice job again! I like the incorporation of quotes. One other reason for the laggards with personal technology is theft. Just something to think about. I think you are headed in a great direction here!
Erin
Kassidy,
The random music was a nice surprise. Like Cynthia, I am interested in the project because of the strict regulations in my school district. By using cell phones as a teaching tool, we are teaching students skills that they will use in years to come. As you show in your video, cell phones are more readily available to students than laptops. Therefore, we should teach them how to see them as a powerful educational tool.
Angela
Kassidy,
I am a little behind because of my absence last week, but I really like your work. I enjoyed the music too. I need to add something to my presentation to make it more appealing for my audience. My feedback would be just to think about first person. I was always told not to add personal opinions. This doesn't mean I did not just noticed it a lot in your writing. Just a thought. Keep up the good work!
-Jolandra
Here is my s curve section:
Hi all- The SCurve is in progress. I had a computer crash, but it is okay because now I finally have my laptop! WOOO HOOO! It should be up by the end of tonight.
Kassidy
Response to Week 5 Responses:
Thank you all for your wonderful comments, I found this section a bit difficult. If you didn't realize it I live in Colorado and was actually a senior in high school only 15 minutes away from Columbine. I have numerous family and friend connections to the victims of Columbine so I found this section a bit hard to stay focused. If you have not heard about the school program Rachel's Challenge, please check it out, for it is truly amazing and my best friend happens to be Rachel's sister in law. http://www.rachelschallenge.org/
Thanks again all.
Kassidy
Kassidy,
I didn't know you lived in Colorado. I am sure that makes it even more meaningful for you. It shows in your work! I know it hurt your heart remembering the incident. However, your work is great and hopefully, this will make a difference in a school somewhere and you can remember and know that you helped to bring about change.
Cynthia
Week 5 Innovation Timeline:
Hey all here is the next part of my project, the file is too big when it is all put together so this is just the timeline section.
Kassidy
Kassidy,
Awesome! You have already convinced me! Remembering the tragic events of Columbine is a great attention grabber. This affected so many lives in so many ways. It was a horrible tragedy. I know that we have increased drills and other safety precautions because of events like this. This is a great video. When you are finished I would like to have a copy of your project....and all the others. I would not use them without your permission or giving you credit. You know me better than that, but these are great presentations and worthwhile viewing.
Cynthia
Kassidy,
This is great! I like how you include specific events that definitely have impacted this topic. I'm glad to also see that your timeline is open-ended as that gives me comfort in the ideas for my own.
Erin
Kassidy,
I like that you used a relevant example, the shooting at Columbine. Consider looking for some information on the shooting at Pearl High School in Mississippi. This focuses the decision makers to understand why there was a sudden rise in cell phones in high schools. Maybe they will see that these devices are not going away. We need to teach the students to see them as more than communication tools but also as education tools. This is where my topic of podcasting comes in. Where many students in low socioeconomic communities do not have computers online, they do have cell phones. Overall, I think you are doing a great job!
Angela
Kassidy,
The use of visual examples and historical uses of cell phones really impressed me and had a huge impact on the time frame of cell phone use. Bravo! You presentation gave some ideas for revising my own presentation. I see more of how to convince others to use this innovation is coming next. I can't wait!
-Jolandra
Week 4: Storyboard\
Kassidy,
This is an excellent start to your project! I think it is interesting because when watching your video, it reminds me of the issues I think about with the iPod in the classroom. Nice work!
Erin
Kassidy,
Fantastic start! I think you are well on the way to an excellent presentation. The use of music is a great idea. I like the large print of the wording as well. It helps readers see you ideas. Just curious how this presentation choice could be presented to the visually impaired or those that have difficulty reading? I am looking at different ways to address learning capabilities for my project so I am asking everyone questions I need to address as well. Also check out this website. http://www.speedofcreativity.org/handouts/ It has several resources that may be useful to you.
-Jolandra
Welcome to my page learning team members! It is my hope that we will use this wiki as a productive and efficient tool for our learning process at Walden University. This is part of the requirements for Dr. David Thornburg's class Diffusion and Integration of Educational Technology (EDUC - 7101 - 1). Here goes nothing! To start I believe we need to upload our papers from week two. Mine is attached below. I look forward to being in a group with you as we go through this crazy process. Enjoy!
I like your approach to researching cell phones. The fact that you did not settle for the first easy innovation to research lets me know that you seriously would like to see the cell phone used in a more educational way. I would also like for the educational environment to lose some of the negativity they direct toward cell phones. Students have them and we need to utilize every device possibly to help increase instructional methods. Cell phones would be a good resource to have in the classroom. I look forward to reading your research study.
Cynthia
Kassidy,
It amazes me how far the cell phone has come, yet so much rejection from the educational community. I look forward to viewing your research because I think this is an innovation that is being slighted.
-Jolandra
Kassidy,
I love this topic because it is one that I am unsure of myself. I see both the pros and cons of using this particular innovation. I am excited to learn more about what you find!
Erin
Kassidy,
I found this article via Ebscohost that I thought you might find interesting.
The cell phone project is very captivating! I look forward to seeing more as you progress through the project.
Cynthia
Kassidy,
As previously stated on the discussion board, this is an excellent start. You include references to cell phone use in Michigan and Texas. Did these articles include any information on student achievement and engagement?
